Rieke Hansen
Dr Rieke Hansen is Professor for Open Space and Ecological Urban Design at the Institute of Open Space Development at Geisenheim University since November 2019. She has a background in open space and landscape planning and is a registered landscape architect. Her research is concerned with questions of planning and designing multifunctional and resilient urban green infrastructure that provides multiple social and ecological benefits. She has researched landscape and open space planning in metropolitan regions and cities in Germany, Europe, and the USA. Her international research projects included the BiodivERsA project URBES, the FP7 project GREEN SURGE, and the Horizon 2020 project proGIreg. Her approach is inter- and transdisciplinary and application-oriented with a focus on exchange of knowledge between research and practice.
