MAK’IT talks ‘transforming education for accelerating transitions’

 “TRANSFORMING EDUCATION FOR ACCELERATING TRANSITIONS”

Thursday 1stDecember 2022, 9:30 – 12:30

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”,Nelson Mandela

Our world is in turmoil. Education has a central role to play in addressing today’s most pressing challenges and in accelerating transitions needed to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For this to happen, education needs to experiment rapid and radical transformation. Education systems (particularly education policies, curricula, pedagogies, teacher capacities, and learning environments) must be reinvented to enable learners to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to act individually and collectively towards a more sustainable future.

On the basis of concrete proposals from Montpellier’s Master’s students and PhD students, this new MAK’IT Talk will discuss with education experts some key takeaways from the United Nations Secretary-General’s Transforming Education Summit and present innovative initiatives to build the education model of the future.

About the ‘MAK’IT Talks’:

The Montpellier Advanced Knowledge Institute on Transitions (MAK’IT) opens this year one of its monthly seminars, previously reserved exclusively for its resident fellows, to Montpellier’s scientific and student community.

Entirely in English, these ‘MAK’IT Talks’ are intended to serve as a space for productive dialogue between international and local experts and aim to strengthen links and synergies around transversal topics, at the science-society interface.

We encourage you to take full advantage of this new exchange platform and we look forward to seeing you at these monthly meetings!
