Humberto Cucchetti

Humberto Cucchetti is a researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET Argentina) and a professor at the University of 3 de Febrero in Buenos Aires (UNTREF).

After completing his doctoral thesis under joint supervision (University of Buenos Aires and École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, UBA-EHESS), he began a long-term comparative research project exploring themes common to both Europe and Latin America, such as activism, nationalist movements and state elites. In 2017, he obtained his Habilitation to Supervise Research (HDR) at Sorbonne University. A specialist in Peronism, he also conducts numerous research stays in France on specifically French phenomena in the fields of history and political science. In 20192020, he is a resident at the Institut d’études avancées (IEA) in Paris, where he isworking on building an oral database on the relation between left-wing activism and the state in France.

He has participated in several international research projects and has extensive experience in scientific cooperation with French universities and research institutions. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Rennes (Institut des Amériques, 2011 and 2019), the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (2018), and the Institut d’Études du Développement de la Sorbonne (IEDES).

It was during his time at IEDES that he began to explore the links between state elites, development, and social mobilization. He is the author of Servir Perón (PUR, 2013) and co-author of Au nom du Peuple? (Cavalier Bleu, 2021, with Alexandre Dézé and Emmanuelle Reungoat), and author of the articles “De la nouvelle action française à la nouvelle action royaliste” (From the New French Action to the New Royalist Action), Pôle sud, 2015, and “Des élites du Peuple? La question des intermédiaires politiques au sein d’un phénomène charismatique” (The question of political intermediaries within a charismatic phenomenon), Histoire, Economie & Société, 2024, among other publications.
