Farmer-centric on-farm experimentation: digital tools for a scalable transformative pathway
Can we innovate differently in agriculture, by bringing together practitioners and researchers?
Farmer-centric On-Farm Experimentation (OFE) is gaining interest worldwide as a practical mechanism to bridge formal and informal knowledge by embedding research into real-world farm management. A particularly promising avenue for OFE is the use of digital technologies to document and support agroecological transition while paving the way for transformational change in agricultural research and innovation.
Conference objectives
This conference will provide practitioners and theoreticians with the opportunity to:
- Share their global experience of OFE as an innovation pathway
- Contribute their insights to explain OFE processes and develop the OFE sciences
- Suggest recommendations and contribute to guidelines to support OFE implementation and institutionalisation
The #OFE2021 conference outputs will include a guideline report bringing together the lessons learned and the implications for policy linkages, a book of proceedings and a special issue in an international journal.
Conference Programmehere
In addition to a full program of plenary and invited speakers on all aspects of OFE, 85 accepted abstracts for e-presentations have been accepted addressing OFE lessons learnt as well as research results across thefour themesof the conference:
- Value creation
- People and processes
- Data analytics
- Policy linkages
Special Issue
The #OFE2021 Conference will be associated with the international scientific journalAgronomy for Sustainable Development (ASD). Three conference papers selected by the Scientific Committeefor“Best Conference Paper Awards”will receivefinancial support to publish in open access into this Conference Special Issueon“Farmer-centric On-Farm Experimentation (OFE) and Digital Tools for a Scalable Transformative Pathway”.
