Paulo Saldivais

Paulo Saldiva is a pathologist and full professor of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He is the Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies in the same University.

Dr. Saldiva made his scientific career on environmental pathology and the impacts of air pollution in human health. He is a leading researcher in this area and works on implementing scientific information in public policies to improve human health in megacities and metropolitan areas. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Medicine in Brazil, of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and participates in a joint International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)/World Health Organisation (WHO) panel of specialist for topics related to air pollution and cancer.

Dr. Saldiva has authored 656 papers referenced in the Web of Science DataBase and completed the supervision of 56 PhD students.
